Grounding your Tractor
 Antenna so it works

Grounding your Semi-Tractor is important

Why: Most Semi Tractors are fiberglass or plastic of some form

and do not have a good grounding capabilities.  Any

vertical antenna needs a good gound counter-poise in

order to work or work properly.

Where: You must drill a small hole in the frame of you Tractor

and make a very good mechanical connection.  Fasten a

connector to the wire and fasten it to a screw and make

sure the screw is the right size for the hole and make

sure the connection is tight.  Run the wire up in any way

you think is out of the way and is not going to be damaged

by the wind when driving and hook it to the Mobile

                                           mount of your antenna.

Why More: You might get out much better, you will hear

better, and you might even eliminate some of

                                     the ignition noise.

Can't get a match on your truc

mount???  Take another antenna  bracket and

mount it right next to your existing bracket and

point it down to the ground.  Screw in a

adjustable antenna such as a solar con or an

Astatic antenna with the adjustable rings.

Make sure the insulator is not on the antenna

when mounting it to the bracket. You want this

antenna grounded right directly to the bracket.

This will be your ground side of the antenna.

You can adjust your SWR with the tuning

rings and get your match right down.

Sometimes the big truck mirror brackets have

very poor grounding and this seems to be one

of the only ways to provide a good ground plane

so the antenna can work properly.
