Safety Tips

Installing Tower

1.  Read manufacturers safety instructions very carefully, it is very important.

2.  Keep the tower away from power lines in case it falls, it will not hit

     them on it's way down.

3.  Be certain your base section has enough concrete to support the tower installing.

4.  When climbing tower be sure to have safety belt that is of high quality and inspect

    it on every climb to be sure   it is good.

5.  While others are on a tower working always stand back and wear a hardhat to

    protect yourself from falling parts.

6.  Do not climb a tower along, always have a helper below to assist you.

7.  Never climb a tower when you are tired.

8.  Never climb a tower during a lightning storm or any storm when their is moisture

    in the air, you could slip very easily.

9.  Ground the tower very well and be sure all connections are very clean when you

    fasten the ground clamps to the tower or the wire or ground rods.

 

Their are many many more safety rules for installing a tower.  In these times

you are always in a hury and want the tower up right now but it pays to

slow down and go by the numbers.

 

Tips for installing an

antenna

1.  First step always is read all the safety rules, it could save a life.

2.  If the antenna is in many parts and a lot of hardware to put it together,

lay the parts on a dry surface and spread them out, this will help you in the long run.

3.  Mount the antenna away from power lines, as far away as possible. 

    Power lines could have a loss factor and cause interference to hinder your

    reception when completed.

4.  Install your antenna in the clear as much as possible, "away from trees, houses"

    objects do not help in the performance of the antenna.

5.  Grounding the antenna is very critical.  A good grounded antenna may cause

    less interference and will be much better for the radio on the other end of the antenna.
